She looks briefly perturbed when he introduces himself, and he wonders if his reputation has preceded him here, somehow. He's not quite sure how it would've done — the only publicly notable thing he does is help run The Archive, and his social circle is small enough that he wouldn't expect even the secondary friends-of-friends level to extend all that far.

But then she introduces herself, and it clicks. "Oh, you're—" John perks up a bit, "are you—I think you know Martin, Martin Blackwood? He's, er, mentioned you. He's m-my partner."

A distant part of him can't help noting that this is at least the second person with a Statement that Martin has independently befriended. He might wonder if Martin can sense it, too, to some extent, if he wasn't too busy being quietly grateful that he's only meeting Dani now, when things are... better. When he's better.
